Product Description Constructed of polyethylene film laminated to cloth with a rubber adhesive, this economical tape resists curling and tears off the roll cleanly for easy application on stucco and other challenging, coated exteriors. 3M Outdoor Masking and Stucco Tape 5959 allows for permanent and temporary applications. It is removable with little or no adhesive residue up to three months after application. From the Manufacturer The adhesive on 3M Outdoor Masking and Stucco Tape 5959 is a special blend of natural and synthetic rubbers and removes cleanly from most opaque surfaces; making it ideal for construction, marine and other applications such as outdoor masking and stucco projects. Its construction is similar to that of an industrial-strength duct tape, making it useful for sealing, holding, bundling, identifying and protecting while its clean removal stands up to masking in tough coating applications. The smooth, red polyethylene backing is easy to identify and protects underlying surfaces from UV damage and abrasion.Application Ideas Ideal for overspray protection when masking substrates from coatings such as stucco, EIFS, gel coat, and construction coatings Effective in marine applications where temporary tents are made to contain coating that is being removed or to protect coating being applied from dust and debris The tough polyethylene outer layer and strong scrim backing make one piece removal of the tape possible when pulling through heavy or extra strong coating Can be used on surfaces such as window and door frames to protect them from damage during construction Ideal for critical abatement applications where the surface must not be damaged or marred during the removal process Thick adhesive layer holds well to irregular surfaces such as sealed masonry or brick Excellent for temporary repairs and holding on the jobMasking tape was developed specifically to help protect surrounding surfaces from overspray, provide clean paint lines and remove easily when finished. These masking tapes adhere well, resist solvents or water from the paint, and are strong enough to hang plastic sheeting, yet remove cleanly without damaging the subsurface. The backing, typically crepe paper, can conform to curved and irregular surfaces. The tape hand tears for tool-free application.A masking tape should specify what surfaces it will stick to and the interval over which it will remove cleanly. A very thin or poorly manufactured tape may demonstrate splintering or shredding, either coming off the roll or when being removed after use. Some masking tapes have the tensile strength for light commercial and industrial applications, including bundling, labeling, sealing, temporary repairs, lane marking, splicing and surface protection. The classic crepe paper masking tape is a light tan color, but these masking tapes come in a variety of colors and formulations to meet general and specific applications, such as 3M Outdoor Masking and Stucco Tape 5959. A roll of masking tape is basic toolbox or supply room item in any construction, warehousing, military, marine, shipping, and retail industries.
